Pamela Harriman [Pamela Harriman]
(1920–97) a US ↑ambassador to France (1993–7) who was an important ↑fund-raiser for the ↑Democratic Party. She was born in Britain as Pamela Beryl Digby, the daughter of an English Lord, and was regarded as one of the most beautiful women of her time. She was married three times and had many famous lovers. In 1939 she married Randolph Churchill, the son of Winston Churchill. Her third husband was Averell Harriman. After her death in France she was given the French Legion of Honour.
